Rice returns to the Mallards after having joined the team in mid-July last summer, en route to throwing 18.1 innings that included three starts. He is a transfer from Madison College, where he went 5-1 with a 1.79 ERA as a sophomore a year ago. Prior to that, Rice pitched at Southern Illinois as a freshman.
