Summer Internships
The Madison Mallards are accepting resume's for the 2012 Season. The season runs from June through August and interns are expected to arrive in early May, upon completion of their spring semester. Every summer the Madison Mallards hire 18-22 interns to help fill vital roles in the team's front office. We have begun holding interviews and will continue to do so until all roles are filled. The full-time internships are paid and can be used to achieve college credit. Interns can expect to work long hours for all 35 home games, along with assisting the front office with day-to-day responsibilities on non-game days. A full commitment of your summer is required.

Game Day Photographer Internship
The Mallards are seeking a photographer to help capture all aspects of a game day. You will work directly with the Mallards Marketing Department on a wide variety of photo assignments. You will receive hands-on experience and portfolio building skills. Candidates should have an expressed interest in shooting during a fast paced baseball game. Candidates must be proficient in Adobe Photoshop and color correction and should be able to present final files digitally. Candidates must be available all 36 Mallards events in 2012. Public Relations Internships:
PR Internship (writing samples are required in order to receive an interview) - Provide daily content for Mallardsbaseball.com (includes game previews & post-game recaps) - Write unique feature stories in the team's game-day insert, the "Quack Report" - Serve as the team's official scorer; includes learning Pointstreak software (previous experience scoring baseball games is required) - Help assist local media with interview requests, both television and print
Video Board Internship - Photoshop experience is required; you will create video board slides and animations throughout the season & be the main operator of the full-color outfield video board during each Mallards game. - Must be able to multi-task and have good organizational skills (it's a fast-paced gig).
Webcast Producer Internship - The Webcast Producer will be in charge of operating a switcher and a four-camera set-up to broadcast each Mallards home game online at Northwoodsleague.tv. - This position requires you to "think on your feet" even though you're sitting down, and previous experience with Final Cut Pro on a MacBook isn't required, but will improve your standing. - Creativity is necessary; you will be looked upon to create short videos that can be used both online and on the video board (think MTV Cribs, one-on-one player interviews, & highlighting ballpark features.)
Marketing Internships:
Full-Time Marketing Internship (paid) - Help implement sponsorship contracts - Coordinate all on-field promotions and pre-game activities (National Anthem, first pitches etc…) - Organize and attend mascot/player appearances in the community - Develop positive relationships with fans, clients and community members to help promote the Madison Mallards - Help with implementation of social media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc...) - Coordinate and implement market research campaigns - Develop and implement different community campaigns throughout the season
Game Day Marketing Intership (un-paid) - Help implement sponsorship contracts - Coordinate all on-field promotions and pre-game activities (National Anthem, first pitches etc…) - Organize and attend mascot/player appearances in the community
- Develop positive relationships with fans, clients and community members to help promote the Madison Mallards
Hospitality/Ticketing Internship: - Work directly with Customer Service Manager to ensure that all large and small company outings have a more than enjoyable experience at the ballpark - Work extensively with the ticket system - taking orders, printing tickets, assist with walk up tickets, and overall ticket system management - Help manage and schedule a staff of game day employees - Help ensure suites are properly set-up for the evening and work with usher manager to make sure each area has wristbands and proper staff in place - Assist with other special groups in the park (Duck Blind Parties, Home Plate Club, suite food/beer orders, etc.)
Operations Internship: The Madison Mallards are looking for 8-10 qualified individuals to assist in their ballpark operations. Operations interns can potentially have a major role in the following areas of the ballpark: merchandise, food and beverage, game-day staff management, and game day set-up of the ballpark.
Other responsibilities include:
- Working directly with Operations Manager to ensure that all aspects of stadium operations are completed in a timely manner - Direct management and staffing of game day employees - Ordering and receiving inventory (merchandise, food, beer, etc..) - Assist with food preparation - Operation of small equipment - Preparing the ballpark for opening day - Opportunities to assist in other areas of the front office
Required Skills:
- Works well independently - Some knowledge or experience working with tools - Ability to think on one’s feet - Excellent communication skills - Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
Field / Turf Management Internship:
This past fall the Mallards resurfaced and reseeded the infield with the same sod as they use for Miller Park. This internship provides a great opportunity to gain experience in field maintenance for qualified candidates.
Field / Turf Management responsibilities include:
- Perform and oversee all aspects of field maintenance (mowing, fertilizing, trimming, weed management, and irrigation).
- Ability to operate small landscape equipment (mowers, edger’s, etc..) and basic small engines knowledge.
- Prepare the field on all game days (mowing, chalking, and raking the infield)
- Perform other facility and maintenance duties throughout the ballpark
- Report daily to the Operations Manager
Field / Turf Management skills include:
- Field / Turf Management experience or education in relation to athletic fields
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills - Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and operate machinery
